The Lyon-Lincoln Electric Cooperative, Inc. Board of Directors has decided that the cooperative will be changing the due dates of your electric bills in 2009. Currently, we read the meters on the 5th of the month and then we bill out that usage aroudn the 20th of the month, and then the bills are sent out to the members with a due date on the 5th of the next month.
The current process does lead to some confusion because when our members call in with a question about their bill, they are asking about their usage from two months prior.
To alleviate this issue and to coordinate our billing with our power supplier, the cooperative will start reading the meter on the last day of the month and then have the bill due by the 20th of the next month. We will start the billing cycle change process in February by reading the meters on Feb. 10th and having the bills due on March 5th. We will then read the meters on March 20 and have that bill due on April 5th. And finally we will read the meters on April 30th and have that bill due on May 20th.
You will notice that we are picking up additional days in each billing period and this is a also a reason that we wanted to have this process completed before the rate increase, so that our members would have the additional usage billed under the current rate schedules.
